Sole & Laces Online Store

Designed and built the full e-commerce site for Sole & Laces, a California sneaker, streetwear, and luxury resale business with five retail stores. Replaced a basic hosted storefront with a 2,400-product Shopify store, end to end in five weeks.

Catalog migration

The hardest part was the data. The owners ran inventory out of multi-tab spreadsheets, so the first job was turning that into clean product data.

I used Python to convert 2,400+ listings, 4,900 size variants, and 8,500+ pieces into a Shopify-ready catalog: normalizing brands, titles, sizes, condition grades, and values Excel had silently corrupted. The owners approved everything on a one-row-per-size review sheet before I bulk-imported the new catalog and archived the old one.

Custom storefront

Seventeen theme iterations on Shopify's Horizon theme, with about fifteen custom Liquid and JavaScript sections: a scroll-animated logo, a shuffling New Arrivals grid with category tabs, "Price on request" and "Photos coming soon" product states, an authenticity band, a Grail Case carousel, and Instagram and TikTok feeds.

Merchandising

Thirty-plus smart collections, brand pages, a photo-tile mega menu, size, brand, and condition filters, and photos-first sorting so the strongest listings lead every page.

Launch

Configured payments, sales tax, shipping rules, the custom domain, SEO, and all store policies; built location pages for all five stores; and wrote the About, Authenticity, FAQ, Shipping, and Size Guide content. Bulk product, collection, menu, and theme updates ran through the Shopify Admin GraphQL API, deployed to unpublished theme copies and checksum-verified before each release.

My role

Built collaboratively with Claude (Anthropic), where my role was scoping with the owners, technical direction, data cleanup decisions, and reviewing every release before it went live.

Takeaway

A five-store retailer went from a basic hosted storefront to a full online store in five weeks.
